For patients who are contact lens wearers and are new to this office we are required by Washington State law to complete a contact lens fitting in addition to the regular exam. This is a one time visit and charge. Once we have done a fitting and you are established as a contact lens wearer, we do not charge you again for this service. For soft lens patients we normally order you a trial pair of lenses with the suggested prescription at $10 per pair for shipping and handling. After you have had a chance to wear them for about a week, we schedule a short appointment for Dr. Huddleston to see the lenses on your eyes. He will check the health of the corneas, fit of the lenses, and prescription of the lenses. The charge for this visit is $90.25. Some insurances pay this as part of the contact lens hardware benefit. For cash payments at the time of the visit, we offer our usual cash discount. Once the fitting is complete, you will receive a contact lens prescription which you may take anywhere to have filled or you may order lenses through us. Contact lenses are a medical device, and the evaluation is done to protect you and the doctor.
